The Adventures Of Carlos Estevez by Rebel Montes
Decided on rereleasing all of my older music to digital streaming platforms & the first reupload just happens to be this Agent Blurr produced EP we originally released in the beginning of the covid pandemic. At the time I was very embarrassed doing anything involving speaking Spanish and my Puerto Rican roots because I know I am a no sabo kid & I think everyone who heard it can also hear it, but looking back at it now it also forced me to just try and learn more Spanish & who would have known that 6 years later I would decide to move to the mother land and continue my life with my youngest daughter, Zeniya, in Puerto Rico. A lot of the concept for this album was based on a sterotypical drunk Puerto Rican tio while also comparing it to a Latin actor who hid his roots to be accepted in Hollywood, Charlie Sheen. Yes, I know Charlie Sheen is not a very liked man. In fact, I think we can all agree he is a pretty terrible human being, but I also feel as we don't know what he could have been if his dad didn't change his name and he decided to keep his real name like his brother Emilio. Fame, money and the need to fit in definitely changes people and has some of us out here looking crazy. As much as he is a man of many many mistakes, I look at everyone as just being human. Humans are weak and sometimes we do some dumbness for some numbness if you get what I mean. All in all, although a very random ass project in the Rebelverse it has grown to be something I hold dearly being that it is so different from a lot of the other projects I have worked on and I do truly believe it brought me closer to my Puerto Rican roots and helped me identify I am more than just a rude New Yorker. The album should be live on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal & etc. within 24 hrs of this post & I will for sure be posting again once it is live.
